Collegiate Shag is a swing dance originating from United States in the 1920s and 1930s. It has seen a revival in recent years, particularly across Europe.

It’s known for it’s nimble footwork, and is great for uptempo music. Shag can be danced in many styles: from gliding serenely and gracefully across the social floor, through to frantic and wild, perfect for showing off in a jam circle!

Above all, Shag is a dance with a smile on its face, and often with its tongue firmly in it cheek!

Collegiate Shag classes are on Tuesday nights – see our classes page for more info.
